About This Experience
Paragliding in Bir Billing involves launching from a high-altitude cliff, navigating thermal currents over valleys, and landing safely in a dedicated valley meadow. The Route & Geography Take-off Point: Billing, a high meadow situated at an altitude of approximately 2,400 meters (8,000 feet) above sea level. Landing Site: Chougan, a flat green field located in the heart of Bir village at roughly 1,400 meters (4,600 feet). The Flight Path: You glide over the majestic Dhauladhar mountain range, alpine forests, and Tibetan monasteries before descending into the valley. Experience Types Tandem Flights: Designed for beginners and tourists. You are securely buckled to a certified, professional pilot who controls the glider while you enjoy the view. Solo Flying: Reserved for certified pilots with formal license credentials. Acro Flights: Advanced tandem rides where pilots execute thrilling aerial maneuvers like wingovers, spirals, and deep stalls over the valley. Ideal Seasons Autumn Peak: October to November offers the clearest blue skies and the most stable, predictable thermal conditions. Spring Peak: March to May provides excellent wind currents and lush green landscapes, though afternoons can occasionally get windy. Monsoon Closure: Flights are entirely suspended during the heavy rainy season (typically July to September) due to high winds and zero visibility. Preparation & Safety Take-off Execution: You must run forward forcefully with your pilot on the launch ramp until the glider lifts you off the ground. Never sit down early. Landing Execution: Listen carefully to your pilot's instructions to lift your legs up right before touching down to ensure a smooth stand-up stop. Clothing: Heavy windproof jackets, sports shoes with good grip, and sunglasses are highly recommended. Loose slip-on shoes are strictly prohibited. Weight Limits: Generally restricted to individuals weighing between 20 kg and 120 kg for optimal glider performance and safety balancing.
